Political Leaf Peeping at B&P on September 25th at 2pm

Bread & Puppet welcomes everyone to our Annual Political Leaf Peeping! We invite you to celebrate the end of the summer and the beginning of the glorious fall landscape with an afternoon of music, puppet shows and potato pancakes. The event will take place Sunday, September 25th at the Bread & Puppet farm in Glover.

There will be a Shape Note sing in front of the museum at 2pm, and those that would like to participate are invited to join a rehearsal at 1pm. The sing will be followed by side shows performed by friends, comrades, and neighbors. After sideshows, the audience is invited into the Paper Mache Cathedral to see The Apocalypse Trauma Show, featuring New York concert pianist Idith Korman. To celebrate the brilliant autumn season, there will be a ceremonious ribbon cutting to open the North East Kingdom landscape. Finally, director Peter Schumann will serve his traditional potato pancakes with fresh applesauce from our apple trees.

Before and after the performances, the audience is invited to visit the world famous Bread & Puppet Museum to see one of the largest collections of puppets in the world, and also to peruse the newest printed posters and banners from the Bread and Puppet Press. An exhibit by Jonas Fricke, Saturn Ladyheart abd Adam Cook, OH WHAT AN EXCITING TIME TO BE ALIVE!, will be on view in the Woodshed Gallery. A selection of Peter Schumann’s newest art, painted on discarded bedsheets, will be on display across the Bread and Puppet property.

Masks are required for the indoor performance in the Paper Mache Cathedral, as well as inside the museum. Social distancing and mask-wearing are strongly recommended when occupying outdoor spaces. This event is not preticketed. Donations are welcome, and no one is turned away for lack of funds. All events take place at the Bread & Puppet farm, 753 Heights Rd., Glover VT.
