Bread & Puppet on Tour

Since 1963, Bread & Puppet has brought urgently-needed radical puppet theater to cities and towns across the globe. Below, find info about our:

Summer Shows in Vermont

The one and only Bread & Puppet Circus is coming! While most of our shows this summer are on our farm in Glover, VT (see schedule and get tickets here), we have a few shows this summer around Vermont! Join us Saturday, August 1 at 4pm for a show in Brattleboro, VT, as part of Next Stage Arts’ Bandwagon Summer Series.

Get ready for a show featuring puppets big and small, acts serious and silly, and performances slapstick and sublime. Stilt dancers, papier-mâché beasts, and a riotous brass band combine to create a raucous, colorful spectacle of protest and celebration.

After the show, Bread & Puppet will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli, and “Cheap Art” from the Bread & Puppet Press — books, posters, postcards, pamphlets, and banners — will be available for purchase.

Fall 2026 Circus Tour: September-October, 2026

The one and only Bread & Puppet Circus is hitting the road! This Fall The Upside Down World Circus will tour cities and towns from Glover to New York to Minneapolis and more! Get ready for a show featuring puppets big and small, acts serious and silly, and performances slapstick and sublime. Stilt dancers, paper maché beasts, and a riotous brass band make a raucous, colorful spectacle of protest and celebration.

“Is it or is it not?
Am I asleep or am I awake?
Am I a cockroach or am I a me?
Possibilitarians! We must demonstrate humanity’s upside-down situation in the face of the government’s depraved falsehoods. Luxury silence and despair must be replaced by revolt orchestras that radically oppose the radically wrong system.
It is time to unforget the revolution-in-progress and aim for the evermore on the universe’s shore.”

After the show Bread & Puppet will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli, and Bread & Puppet’s “Cheap Art” – books, posters, postcards, pamphlets and banners from the Bread & Puppet Press – will be for sale.

Philadelphia, PA

We would very much like to return to Philadelphia with our circus, but have struggled to find a suitable venue. We need BIG and bounded (as in, not a public park with no clear entrance). There needs to be a clear entrance. Unfortunately the church where we play every spring is too small stage-wise. A large gym or auditorium would work. A fenced space would work. More info about what we’re looking for is here. If you have a real lead on a venue, please email Paul at [email protected]. Thank you!

New York City Residency

For over 40 years, Bread & Puppet has performed in the iconic East Village venue Theater for the New City. We are thrilled to be back again in 2026 with a circus performing December 2-6 and another show performing December 10-13. Tickets will go on sale in September. See you there!

2027

We are just now receiving the earliest inquiries and making plans for 2027. Presumably, we will tour an indoor show in April, and our mostly-outdoor circus in September-October, with an NYC residency in December. If you are interested in booking Bread & Puppet in 2027, please see the booking information below.

Book Bread & Puppet

If you are interested in booking Bread and Puppet, please see our booking packet, which can answer many of your questions. When you’re ready, reach out to our tour booker Paul at [email protected].

No one turned away for lack of funds

We mean it. If you need financial assistance with a ticket, please email [email protected].
Admission by donation upon arrival for kids 12 and under.

Pay it forward

If you are in a position to help others with the cost of the ticket and sustain Bread & Puppet, please consider making a donation. As a political theater determined to remain independent, we do not solicit grant funding for our operating expenses. Help us spread cardboard radically! Thank you.
