Ah! The Hopeful Pageantry of Bread and Puppet
New film by Dee Dee Halleck and Tamar Schumann
This film is drawn from over 200 hours of footage shot at the Bread and Puppet Domestic Resurrection Circus from 1990-1998. Neither a straight documentary nor an “educational” rendition of theater history, Ah! is more like a Bread and Puppet film, one that captures the spirit and essense of this influential theater group.
Bread and Puppet has shown we can create new worlds, starting with very humble and accessible tools such as cardboard and cloth. The collective spirit and the magnitude of their vision have been a source for people all over the world.
